Vivo NEX: The Futuristic Smartphone

The Vivo NEX comes with an ultra bezel-less display, in-display fingerprint sensor and a pop-up selfie camera which pops out whenever required. So here’s everything you need to know about the Vivo NEX flagship.

Display:

The Vivo NEX features a 6.59″-inch Super AMOLED display with 2316 × 1080 pixels of resolution (Full HD+ ) and 19.3:9 aspect ratio. It offers a true bezel-less edge-to-edge display with a screen-to-body ratio of 91.24 %, (—the company calls it as ultra FullView display).

Design:

In terms of the design, the Vivo NEX features tiny bezels which measure 1.71 mm on the sides and 2.16mm on the top. On the front, it hides notch for those who want a bigger display. To achieve this, Vivo ditched the standard earpiece and adopts the Screen SoundCasting Technology, which turns the entire screen into a speaker.

While the back of the phone is covered by the glass back looks stunning. The glass black is coated with (—Vivo says) “Holographic Diffraction Dynamic Color” illusion technology, which sees thousands of “diffraction units” laser engraved onto the back of the phone to create a “dreamlike sci-fi effect”.It also uses a ray data compensation algorithm that hides the light sensor at the bottom of the display, thanks to an innovative design. while there is a micro-slit infrared sensor is also hidden at the top of the display.

Processor, RAM, and Storage.

Under the hood, it is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 845 64-bit 10nm Mobile Processor (—is clocked at 2.2GHz ) paired with Adreno 630 GPU and 8GB of RAM. The phone comes in two storage options – 128GB Internal storage or 256GB Internal storage, non-expandable.

The cameras can perform several features include 4-Axis OIS, Slow Motion, Backlight HDR, Live Photo, Portrait Bokeh (— on the dual cameras), Panorama, Time Lapse, Face Beauty, AR Stickers, Filters.Coming to the star highlight of the phone; its front elevating camera. It houses an 8-megapixel pop-up front-facing camera that pop-ups while taking selfies and automatically hides when you close the camera app. To achieve this technology, Vivo used a fine precise micro-stepping motor, with independent IC drives and precision control algorithms to precisely control this process. According to Vivo, this mechanism of the front camera can survive accidental falls and pressure. Moreover, the sliding mechanism has been tested over 50,000 times for durability.

Software:

The phone runs Funtouch OS 4.0 based on Android 8.1 (Oreo) with an AI-powered Energy UI technology that automatically recognizes the cold and warm colors of wallpaper and it automatically adjusts the visual style of icons to give more beautiful viewing experience.
